Husband of 'Clueless' Star Stacey Dash Claims He Was 'Hypnotized' Into Marrying Her: Report

August 19, 2020

Stacey Dash’s estranged husband is asking a judge to annul their marriage claiming he was religiously pressured.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Jeffrey Marty says he was hypnotized into marrying the actress.

He alleges that Dash and her pastor used “hypnotic prayer techniques” to get him to say “I do.”

Marty, a lawyer, claims that 10 days prior to marrying the “Clueless” actress, the pastor “unexpectedly and suddenly proclaimed that it was God’s will” that they tie the knot.

The couple married on April 6, 2018 after dating for only 10 days, according to Page Six.

Marty didn’t elaborate on the techniques used to pressure him.

Dash is open to annulling the marriage as swiftly as possible, though she and her attorneys did not admit to claims of hypnotism.

The 53-year-old actress announced her split from Marty in April, roughly two years after the wedding.

“My husband and I have made the hard decision of ending our marriage,” Dash began in a message on Instagram. “After much prayer, I feel this is the right path for both of us. I wish him nothing but the best. Thank you everyone for your support and [for] respecting our privacy during this difficult time.”

The news came after Dash was arrested for domestic battery in late September 2019. In the initial 911 call, she claimed Marty assaulted her, but police arrested her after they saw marks on her husband. She was accused of pushing and slapping him, but the charges were eventually dropped.

Marty was Dash’s fourth husband.
