Summer festival concert season and country music go hand-in-hand -- and 2019 will bring the format’s brightest stars to stages all over the country. Chicago’s LakeShake Festival will be in its fifth year, June 21-23 at the Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in downtown Chicago, and is offering festival goers something unique and different.

An all-female line up on Friday, June 21, featuring Miranda Lambert with the Pistol Annies, Maren Morris, Lauren Alaina, Lindsay Ell, and Cassadee Pope plus more to be announced soon.

This is a great thing -- I’ve never seen a festival in country music dedicate an entire day to the ladies of the format.

As a country radio programmer, I’ve heard the calls for more women on the radio. Building a story of the next generation of country women is part of the solution that can lead to increased awareness and airplay.

Chicago is an amazing place to be in the summer. Make plans to join us for what is going to be a great weekend of music led by the ladies of Country Music! Here are a few songs to add to your playlist to get you ready:

Love this new Pistol Annies song, "Got My Name Changed Back."

Rich is the easy choice, but I love "My Church" from Maren Morris:

Lauren Alaina has a new song that celebrates women of different kinds of music. Check out "Ladies of The 90s":
