It started with a Facebook post and ended in an adoption.

Last week, Oklahoma’s Broken Arrow Animal Shelter shared an image on Facebook of an adorable stray border collie with a unique heart-shaped patch of fur on her chest.

The post was quickly shared over 27,000 times and one family went above and beyond to make the adorable dog part of their family.

According to the shelter's policy, the border collie had to wait 5 days before being eligible for adoption. Adoptions are also made on a first-come, first-serve basis, so one family actually camped out in the shelter parking lot for 27 hours to ensure they were the first ones in and able to adopt the canine.

They arrived at the shelter at 8:30 am on Wednesday, but the dog was not eligible to be adopted until 11:30 am on Thursday. The family didn't mind, they were determined to give this dog her forever home.

The shelter shared the awesome adoption news on their Facebook page and many users commented saying how happy they were for both the stray and the family and loved seeing a happy ending like this.

The family is planning on naming her Luna! They truly went the extra mile to help the dog feel loved and give her a forever home.
