A new nationwide reading movement is launching through a virtual storytime program with celebrity readers that will help stress the importance of reading as a shared experience between parents and children.

The movement titled #ReadTogetherBeTogether was created to help reading become a regular and cherished activity for parents and children to do together.

It has been said that reading aloud to babies and children is one of the most effective ways to foster early literacy and is a key factor in building language and social skills.

Many celebrities including Misty Copeland, Danica McKellar, Tiffani Thiessen, Brady Smith, B. J. Novak, and Scott Kelly will be among the bestselling and award-winning authors and illustrators participating in the daily virtual storytimes.

The program will also include a list of recommended age-appropriate books as well as reading tips for parents and caregivers.

The campaign was originally supposed to launch in the summer, but has been moved up to support parents and caregivers during the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.

The virtual storytimes will be live every day at 2 pm on the selected celebrity's social channel.
