73 Year Old Grandma From Highland Park Wins Second Ironman Challenge #GoodVibes

With Jason Pullman

October 16, 2019

Bobbe Greenberg might be 73 years old, but that does not stop her from working out or competing in Ironman World Championships.

Yes, that's right, Ironman Challenges: where one swims for 2.4 miles, bikes for 112 miles, and then runs a full 26.2-mile marathon. (I'm tired after just reading all that!)

The Highland Park native says she loves feeling fit and being active, which would make sense why she would then put her body through that strenuous competition.

She doesn't do it for the glory, instead, for her its about exploring nature and training with a community of athletes. That is what motivates her to train 6 days a week!

“I love being outdoors and I love being with my friends, so it feeds that social part of me in so many ways,” she explains. “You have to put in so many hours every day doing something, so it gives me some sense of purpose, and it’s fun.”

Last year she won the Ironman in her female ages 70-74 group and she was hoping to do it again this year.

AND SHE DID! She won the competition for the second consecutive year in her age bracket with a total time of 14 hours, 7 minutes, and 11 seconds!

Never let age hinder you from following your dreams and doing what you love to do! #GoodVibes
