It’s finally springtime in the Windy City, and it couldn’t have come at a better time!! Chicago and its amazing suburbs are playing host to some great events that are going to get you out and about this weekend!

Open those blinds, dust off those spring jackets and grab those shades. Here's What’s Up For The Weekend

The WhiskyX - United Club at Solider Field, Friday 4/27 at 6 pm 

Whether you’re a whiskey nut or just someone who enjoys a splash of it every now and then, WhiskyX kicks off your weekend in style. Advertised as “not your typical whiskey fest,” this inaugural event will feature over 60 whiskies, a live performance by The Moowgli’s plus food trucks and chefs to keep your stomach happy between sips of whiskey. You can even kill two birds with one stone and get a haircut by men’s barber club Blind Barber on site. (Yes guys, fix your fade while you enjoy some whiskey). VIP Tickets will give you early admission, free culinary samplings, a complimentary cigar and VIP tasting on select whiskey. General admission passes are available as well. Bonus: safe rides to and from the event are available with a special discount from Lyft.

Geneva Garage Sale - Geneva, Saturday 4/28 and Sunday 4/29, 8am- 4pm

Tis the season for garage sales!! Are you moving and need new furniture? Looking for some new clothes (a little retail therapy never hurt anyone) or toys for the playroom? Want to pick up some knick-knacks, paddy whacks or maybe even a dog bone? Geneva has you covered. This two-day citywide event features hundreds of products looking for a new home. Randolph Street Market - Chicago, Saturday 4/28 and Sunday 4/29, 10am-5pm

Randolph Street Market's monthly event is officially back for the summer this weekend!! Theme: Artsy Fartsy. Check out 125 vendors selling antiques, vintage art and fashion; indie designs and global goods. Take a break from adding one of a kind pieces to your home to snack on some fancy foods, have a couple of drinks and dance to a live DJ. Kids under 12 are free and if you are driving in, free parking is available at the Plumbers Hall Lot. General Admission tickets start at $10. All you need to know about Randolph Street Market...

Lincoln Park Mini BioBlitz - Lincoln Park Zoo, Saturday 4/28, 8am- 12pm 

Get out to smell the roses and see the lions! Kids ages 6+ (that includes you too parents) can experience Lincoln Park Zoo through a different lens. Part of the iNature Challenge -- a multiday celebration of nature -- the Lincoln Park Mini BioBlitz will allow children and parents to investigate, record plants and wildlife with the help of Urban Wildlife Institute, Horticulture and Learning teams. Chicago Bookstore Day - Chicago, Saturday 4/28, 8-11am

You can enjoy the beautiful day both indoors and outdoors with the second annual Chicago Bookstore Day. Focused on celebrating Chicago’s indie bookstore community, attendees can visit as many stores as possible to pick up some Summer reading. Bonus: Chicago Bookstore Day can get you a discount for the rest of the year. With a #MyChicagoBookstore Passport, after an initial payment of $25 or more at your first store, you will receive a stamp for each bookstore you visit. Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers - Wrigley Field Friday 4/27, Saturday 4/28 and Sunday 4/29 all at 1:20p

The reigning NL Central Champion Cubs take on their rivals north on 94 this weekend at Wrigley Field. This is the second meeting between the two teams this year, with the Cubs taking two of three in Milwaukee earlier this month. For those looking for free swag, arrive early to receive: a cubs fleece blanket on Friday; a “Dancing Bullpen” Beverage Tumbler on Saturday; and a Cubs Slouch “Beamie”- a beanie with a Jim Beam logo on it- on Sunday. Kane County Cougars vs. Burlington Bees - Northwestern Medicine Field, Geneva, Friday 4/27 (6pm), Saturday 4/28 and Sunday 4/29 (1 pm)

Looking to catch a ballgame and hit the base paths? The Kane County Cougars host the Burlington Bees for a three game series at Northwestern Medicine Field this weekend. Families can enjoy all three games in Geneva at an affordable price. Friday night will feature the only night game of the series, with Saturday and Sunday slated for a 1 pm first pitch.
