The Krispy Kreme donut-sized void in downtown Chicago is getting filled.

The beloved chain has opened its first Chicago location in the Loop's Block 37 to serve iconic glazed donuts to commuters, tourists, and everyone in between.

The bakery-style shop is nestled in the Pedway-level of the mall's high-traffic hallway (across from Starbucks), which connects to Maggie Daley Plaza, the Blue Line, and the Red Line.

According to the press release, "The shop will offer Krispy Kreme’s signature Original Glazed® doughnuts, assorted doughnut varieties, and frozen beverages, along with store-wide limited-time offerings."

In celebration of the groundbreaking opening, all brewed coffee will be $0.90 through the end of 2019.

And that's not all!

The press release reveals that "ten dozen (120) “Golden Tickets” will be distributed at random to customers at checkout throughout opening week from Tuesday, October 22 until Sunday, October 27, with winners receiving one free dozen Original Glazed® doughnuts every month for a year."

Unsurprisingly, long lines were already formed outside of the shop early this morning.

If you don't want to wait in line, online ordering will also be available via KrispyKreme.com, Grubhub and Uber Eats.

The only downside of opening a shop in the city is that donuts will be supplied twice daily from suburban locations rather than made on-site.

According to franchisee Carlos Larcada, real estate options made it difficult to bake the donuts in-house.

The return of Krispy Kreme to the downtown area has been highly anticipated by donut-lovers that saw the chain shutter its doors amidst the recession.

Thankfully, in 2015 the chain announced plans to open up eight new shops in Chicago, and they seem to be on track.

The Block 37 location marks the fourth location that is back up and running to serve glazed donuts, coffee, and frozen beverages.
